About This Class

Introducing Beginners Ring Making with re-nouned Master Goldsmith, Peter Keep. This class is for two days, 9.30am to 4pm each day. This Elevate Event is an excellent opportunity to learn at the bench, under full tuition with Peter. It is perfect for jewellery makers at a beginners skill level as well as those who are more confident in making their own designs safely. Peter has 40+ years’ experience as a Designer Goldsmith, Manufacturing Jeweller, Setter & is a celebrated Trade Tutor. Over the years Peter has developed his own programmes, utilising course content that has excellent learning outcomes for Jewellers, Apprentices & Students alike. Peter draws on his experience in the principals of making good jewellery & has a full understanding of ring making techniques, class participation, achievability & engagement. What this course will cover: This introduction takes a "best practices" approach in ringmaking to make a simple 4 claw ring with a 6mm faceted stone, and how to form a collet to make an 8 claw crown set ring for a 7mm faceted stone. If time permits you will also learn how to set these stone mounts. What's included: Full tuition & guidance from Peter. A supportive space to learn in, with time to learn and practice at the bench. A ring-makers pack, including all stones & prefabricated Sterling Silver needed to complete the exercises. Our workshop has ring maker tools, however you might like to purchase, or bring your favourite tools if you already have them. Health & Safety Requirements: Closed toe shoes must be worn & you must have any long hair tied up. Bring your eyeglasses if you need to see up close. We'll settle you in after our "New HandS in the Workshop" induction, regarding the use of our workshop facilities, & your participation in the end of class clean-up. Within your booking is a compulsory half hour break included, so bring something to munch. Tea & coffee provided. Booking is essential. Please be respectful and arrive 15 minutes before class starts at 9.30am, each day. As this program is jam packed with content that we want you to get the most benefit from we must start the class on time. Closed toe shoes eg: sneakers etc must be worn in the workshop. Please have any long hair tied up. Bring your eyeglasses if you need to see up close. Please turn up 5-10 minutes before your booking. If you are more than 10 minutes late, unfortunately you will be required to forfeit your booking as the progress of the session means we must start the class on time. Your booking is non-refundable once the class has started. An additional $10 fee will be payable at class, for rings that need to be made for finger sizes: X and above.
